Clarissa Dekker, 67, of Hospers, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a sudden illness.
Services were held Monday at the Newkirk Reformed Church with the Rev. Kevin Ver Hoeven officiating. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Clarissa was born Nov. 1, 1922 at Ireton, the daughter of Otto De Jong and Susie Postma De Jong. On February 19, 1943 she married Gerrit Dekker at Maurice. They have lived in the Hospers area for the past 36 years.
Mrs. Dekker was a cook, part-time, at the Hi-way Cafe in Hospers for 20 years.
She was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church and the Mission Fellowship Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Wendell of Hospers; a daughter, Debra of Hartford, Conn., and a sister, Jeanette De Jong of Sioux Center.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell and Laurence De Jong.
