Sioux County Capital, June 14, 1994

Grace Dekker, age 64, of Orange City, died Sunday, June 12, 1994 at the Orange City hospital.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14 at 10:00 A.M., at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. David C. Ter Beest of the First Reformed Church in Orange City officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Grace was born July 22, 1929 at Rock Valley, the daughter of John C. & Tena (De Boer) Dekker. She was raised at Rock Valley. In earlier years she was employed in private homes. She later moved to Hull where she was a nurse's aide at the hospital. In 1953 she moved to Orange City where she was an aide at the Orange City Municipal Hospital for about 20 years. She was a long-time resident of Orange City Colony in Orange City.

Miss Dekker was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include three brothers, Christian Dekker and his wife Tena of Orange City; Henry Dekker of Rock Valley, and Gerrit Dekker of Hull; two sisters, Ida De Haan of Bellflower, CA, and Rena Van Grouw of Hawarden; three sisters-in-law, Ada Van Grouw and Adylda Dekker both of Orange City, and Katherine Dekker of Sioux Center; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Miedema, and four brothers, Albert and Frank Dekker, and Arie and Hessel Van Grouw.
