Rock Valley - Funeral services for John Dekker, 81, were held Friday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home and at the First Christian Reformed church with Rev. C. Huissen officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Dekker was born July 22, 1874 in The Netherlands. He was married to Archie Flier. She passed away and he married Mrs. Tena Van Grouw, April 10, 1928. He farmed in this vicinity and after retiring many years ago moved to Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widow Tena, three daughters, Mrs. Sam Miedema, Fairview, SD; Mrs. John De Haan of Hospers and Grace Dekker of Orange City; five sons, Henry and Chris of Orange City; Gerrit of Hospers, Albert of Maurice and Frank of Sheldon, and a sister living in The Netherlands and 15 grandchildren.
