Sioux Center News, December 4, 1930

Sioux City Journal - James De Kock, aged 22, was found lying unconscious outside the barn by his employer, Tunis Maasen, a farmer living near Maurice, IA. De Kock died while he was being carried to the house, never regaining consciousness.

At the inquest it was found that death was the result of a fractured rib which punctured his heart. The supposition is that he fell from the hay loft, landing on the handle of a pitchfort, causing the fracture.

De Kock is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John De Kock, who live on a farm near Maurice. He leaves besides his parents a married sister, Mrs. Peter Raak, and four younger brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 12:30 at the home and at 1 o'clock at the church in Maurice.
