Information from the Sioux Center Obit.
The community was deeply saddened last Saturday when work came of the sudden death of Mr. Anton Dekkers a well-known resident of Eagle Twp. He died in his sleep about midnight Friday and was found the following morning by his son Joe with whom he made his home.

He was born in The Netherlands, Jan. 25, 1881, so just passed his 69th birthday.

He married Wilmina De Graaf in 1906, who preceded him in death in 1924. He came to the United States in 1920. Survivors are five sons and one daughter, Adrian, John, Henry, Peter, Mrs. Henry Bonnema and Joe, 16 grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters in The Netherlands. He made a trip to Holland three years ago.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Lebanon Christian Ref. Church with Rev. J. Cupido of the Hawarden Christian Ref. Church officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Mr. John Haverhals, Peter Bonnema, Henry Ykema, Gerrit Vander Lugt, Bart Zwier and Tony Van Berkel.

Additional Information from the Hawarden Independent:

Mr. Dekkers apparently was enjoying his usual good health on Friday, but he had mentioned a slight pain in his chest.

Four of their six children were born in Holland.
