Henry Dekkers, 91, of Sioux Center, died July 16, 2003 at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Funeral services were July 19 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Stephen Rhoda officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center was in charge of arrangements.

Henry Dekkers was born on March 10, 1912 in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, the son of Antone & Wilmina (DeGraaf) Dekkers. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1920, settling at rural Hawarden. On January 11, 1939 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Haverhals. Henry and Anna farmed near Ireton for 36 years until retiring to Sioux Center in 1975. For many years he was a member of the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church, and later transferred his membership to Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors include daughter Wilhelmina VandeKerk of Bellingham, Wash.; sons, Peter Dekkers and Howard Dekkers of Ireton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren brother Joe Dekkers of Hawarden; sister Elizabeth Bonnema of Sioux Center; and sister-in-law Grace Dekkers of Hawarden; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna on August 14, 2001, an infant son and three brothers: Adrian, John and Peter Dekkers.
