March 11, 1916--March 9, 2002

HULL--Edward Van't Hul, 85, Hull, died Saturday, March 9, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Services were Wednesday, March 13, at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Revs. Verlyn Boone and David Ter Beest officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Edward Van't Hul, son of Gerben and Anne (Veldkamp) Van't Hul, was born March 11, 1916, near Inwood. His family moved to Rock Valley, where he attended a rural school and the Christian School, and joined the Christian Reformed Church.

He married Frances Vande Vegte on March 11, 1937. He did carpenter work until 1943, when they began farming north of Hull. They moved into Hull in 1963 and continued farming in Minnesota. They retired in 1980 and did much fishing and traveling.

He was a member of First Reformed Church in Hull, where he served as an elder and deacon. He also belonged to the Gideons. He liked to repair things and he enjoyed visiting with people, especially his family.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Van't Hul of Hull; two sons, Robert and Corrine Van't Hul of Hull, and Marvin and Myrna Van't Hul of Boyden; a daughter, Muriel and Peter Den Hartog of Orange City; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Van't Hull of Luverne, MN; and a sister, Jackie Velgersdyk of Englewood, CO.

He was preceded in death by a son, Norman Dale Van't Hul, at age 2; three brothers, Burt Van't Hul, Herman Van't Hul and Gerben Van't Hul; and three sisters, Lucy Kuyper, Alice Calsbeek and Angeline Vande Griend.

Memorials will be directed to the Gideons.
