Sioux County Capital, October 7, 1993

Jacob K. "Jack" Duimstra, 85, of Sheldon and formerly of Sanborn died on Friday, Oct. 1, at the Sheldon hospital.

Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn with the Rev. Tom Hoogendoorn officiating. Burial was at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn.

Mr. Duimstra was born on April 22, 1908, in Hull, the son of Fred & Abbie (Mulder) Duimstra. He grew up in Hull, Sanborn, Hancock, MN., Orange City and Colton, SD. He graduated from Colton High School and from Northwestern Junior College in Orange City in 1931.

He married Marjorie Bogaard of Hospers on Sept. 21, 1935, at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. They lived in Orange City, where he worked in the oil business. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater.

They moved to Sanborn in 1950, where he ran a rural sales business. Mrs. Marjorie Duimstra died on Dec. 13, 1986. He married Evadean Brink, August 9, 1991.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church, where he had served as deacon, elder and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood. He had been a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. He was a past board member of Northwestern College. He was a member of the American Legion Earl T. Conway Post 318 of Sanborn.

Survivors include his wife Evadean; three children, David of Des Moines, Daniel of Frankfurt, Germany, and Debora Sandberg of Lake Oswego, Ore., and five grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Coba, Gertrude and Wilma, and two brothers, Peter and John.
