Archer - Daniel "Dan" F. De Kok, 94, Archer, died Saturday, Aug. 30, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services were Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Archer Reformed Church, with the Rev. Russell Westbrook officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home.

Dan De Kok, son of Frank & Elizabeth (Schaafsma) De Kok, was born March 30, 1909, in Friesland The Netherlands. He came to the United States at the age of 3 and lived his youth and received his education in the Hospers and Archer areas.

He married Irene De Young on Dec. 20, 1934, at her parents home in rural Archer. They farmed for 40 years north of Archer, before moving into Archer in 1974. They resided in Archer until 1994, when they moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. They moved to Sanborn in 1996.

Mrs. De Kok died Oct. 15, 2000. He continued to make his home in Sanborn.

He was a member of Archer Reformed Church, where he served as an elder for many years. He loved his farming vocation and enjoyed traveling, fishing, and the times he could spend with his friends. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and his Lord.

Survivors include three children, Midge & Don Andringa of Sheldon; Dave & Barb De Kok of Archer; and Don & Sue De Kok of Alton; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six half-brothers and sisters; a stepbrother and a stepsister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene De Kok, three sisters; a brother; a half-brother; and two stepbrothers.
