Julius E. De Jong, 89, of Orange City died Friday, April 3, in the Sioux Center nursing home.
Services were Wednesday, April 6, at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City, the Rev. Henry Elgersma officiating. Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery.
De Jong was born October 27, 1897, in Orange City. He married Hulda Muilenburg December 28, 1923, at Orange City. The couple farmed southwest of Orange City until 1962, when they retired into town. Hulda Dejong died March 22, 1983, at Orange City. In 1985, he became a resident of Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden; in 1986, he transferred to Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.
He was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church and was a member of several farm organizations.
Survivors include a son, Koenraad De Jong of Orange City; a brother, the Rev. Spencer De Jong of Fullerton, California; a sister, Florence Heemstra of Orange City; and two
grandsons.
