Obituary of Dries Van't Hul Age 85, Buried Here Sat.

Dries Van't Hul was born in the Netherlands in November of the year 1849. He came to this country in 1888 and settled near Sioux Center.

In 1890 he was married to Miss Fanny Van Burkum of Carmel, and to this union ten children were born, one, Franklin, dying in infancy.

The family farmed in the vicinity of Sioux Center and Hull until 1917, when they moved to Hull to reside. Mrs. Van't Hul died December 2nd, 1913.

Mr. Van't Hul died at the age of 85 years at his home in Hull, following a short illness.

The surviving children are: Bert Van't Hul of Egan, South Dakota; Mrs. Grace Kosters of Hull; Wm. Van't Hul of Hull; John Van't Hul of Orange City; Jake Van't Hul of Conota, South Dakota; Herman Van't Hul of Hull; Mrs. Fannie Ten Haken of Hull; and Mrs. Coba Van Rennes of Hull.

A very large number of mourning relatives and friends attended the funeral Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Dries Van't Hul died Wednesday morning at the age of nearly 85. He had been suffering with bladder trouble for the past six years. He was born at Nunspeet, Netherlands, in 1849. In 1888 he migrated with relatives to America and settled in Sioux county. Soon afterward he was married to Fanny Van Burkum. An infant son, Frank, who lived to be nine months, died in 1907. In 1913 his wife died. In 1917 he moved to Hull where he passed away. He is survived by five sons and four daughters: Mrs. Grace Koster, William and Mrs. Tracy Van der Schaaf, of Hull; John, Orange City; Jake, Canistota, S.D.; Herman, Mrs. Fanny Ten Haken and Coba Van Renness of Hull.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the First Ref. church and interment took place at Hope cemetery.
