John Van Veldhuizen, 69, of rural Doon, died Saturday, April 21, 1990, in a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation was held in Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Veldhuizen was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Rock Valley, the son of Aart and Cornelia (Brouwer) Van Veldhuizen. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. On Jan. 3, 1947, he married Stella Huyser in Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Doon. Mr. Van Veldhuizen was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill and his wife, Charlene of Rock Valley and Leroy of Doon; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Karen) Post of Doon and Alvina Van Veldhuizen of Sioux Falls; five brothers, Pete of Canton, S.D., Jasper of Rock Rapids, Joe of Battle Ground, Wash., Arie of Rock Valley and Cornie of Inwood; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Dora) Koops of Lakewood, Calif., and Mrs. George (Jennie) Rus of Corsica, S.D.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur and two brothers in infancy.
