Evers, Mrs. Cornelius (Jeannette) - 1890-1984

Sioux County Capital, July 19, 1984

Mrs. Jeannette Evers, 93, died July 4 at the Pella Community Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at the Second Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Norman J. Schouten officiated and interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Iowa.

Jeannette was the second child born to Samuel and Mary (Schaap) Pas on July 12, 1890 at Thule, SD. She attended Hope Prep High School in Holland, Mich., where she had moved with her parents at the age of 13 years. On June 17, 1913, she was united in marriage with Cornelius Evers at Holland, Mich., and to this union six children were born: Alvin Eugene, Stanley Paul, James Victor, Clyde Louis, and twins Robert Stanley and Myrtle Mae.

Mr. & Mrs. Evers lived in Iowa, Michigan and West Virginia respectively where he taught in various schools and colleges. In 1928 they moved to Pella where Mr. Evers taught physics and biology at Central College for several years and retired as professor of these sciences at Northwestern College in Orange City. They continued to live in Pella the remainder of their married lifetime. Mr. Evers passed away March 26, 1974. Jeannette became a resident of Fair Haven and for the past year had been cared for at the Pella Community Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella.

Survivors are four sons, Dr. Alvin E. Evers, James V. Evers, Clyde L. Evers, Robert S. Evers; one daughter, Mert Tysseling; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Retta Pas of Pella and Viola, Mrs. Elwood Geegh of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and one brother, Henry A. Pas of Holland, Mich.

Preceding her in death besides her husband "Neal" were one son, Stanley Paul; two granddaughters, Mary Evers and Jaren Boyce; her parents and one older brother, Henry Pas.
