Bert Walker of Omaha, a former Hawarden resident, passed away at his home Monday, April 1st, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held at a Catholic Church in that city last Thursday morning and burial was made in Omaha. His mother, Mrs. Wm. Walker, and brother, Ivan Walker, of Hawarden, went to Omaha to attend the funeral.
Bert Walker, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Walker of Hawarden, was born at Valley, Neb., September 17, 1895, so was past 39 years of age at the time of his death. When a child he moved to Manilla with his parents where he grew to young manhood. He came to Hawarden about 22 years ago and lived here for eight or ten years and part of this time he was employed by W. W. Allen on bridge work. Later he went to Sioux City where he married Catherine Roch and after their marriage he continued to make his home in Sioux City for a time but for the past few years he lived in Omaha where he was employed as a switch man. He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Walker, one brother, Ivan Walker of Hawarden, and one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Broman of Manilla, Iowa.
