Fannie Walker, 96, of Spencer, formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, May 26, 2003 at the Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer. Funeral service was May 30 at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Stuart Schreur officiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Fannie Walker was born November 18, 1906 in Vichy, MO, the daughter of James S. & Barbara E. (Davis) Tipton. She married Hadley Walker, April 25, 1926 in Vienna, MO. They lived in Jefferson City, MO before moving to Hawarden in 1960.

Mr. Walker died March 13, 1991. Fannie moved to the Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer two years ago.

Fannie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hawarden where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include her children, Wilma Mueller of Spencer, Hadley Walker Jr. of Nokatee, FL, Bonnie Sue Gillmore of Alva, FL, Phyllis D. Walker of Cape Coral, FL and Jerry W. Walker of Plainfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Higgins of Jefferson City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, June in 1936, and eight brothers and sisters.
