Hawarden Independent, February 20, 1941

Angus Abbey Walker, son of Mr. & Mrs. J. E. Walker, died at his home in this city Friday, February 14th, after an illness of seven years duration, during which most of that time he had been confined to his bed.

Deceased was born near Hecia, S.D. on November 1, 1915, where he lived until his parents moved to Hawarden on August 22, 1918, and had made his home here since that time. He attended the Hawarden High School until his junior year, at which time he had to leave school on account of illness. He bore his long illness with great fortitude and was always cheerful and hopeful of recovery. He was a great favorite among his fellow students while in school here.

He leaves to mourn his departure his parents, and one brother, Dale L. Walker of Alhambra, Calif., who with his wife was here to attend the funeral; and one sister, Mrs. John Moore of Long Beach, Calif. Mrs. Moore visited here last summer but was unable to come to the funeral.

Funeral services were held from the Ross Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 and interment was in Grace Hill cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by a Christian Science reader from Sioux City, David Scott. Lowell Traver sang beautiful solos, with Miss Grace Mason as accompanist.

The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved parents and other relatives.
