Robert Walker, 73, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home. Private graveside service will take place at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Badger with the Rev. Imlay officiating.
Robert S. Walker was born Jan. 26, 1929 at Sergeant Bluff, the son of Ivan & Caroline (Boeck) Walker. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1947 and worked at the local Council Oak Store. He later managed grocery stores in Ainsworth, Yankton and Vermillion, SD, and the Randall's store in Fort Dodge, until his retirement.
He married Anna LaRae Strong in Jan. 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden. He married Ruth Brighi in 1996. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was active in the First Baptist Church in Hawarden, where he sang in the choir, was active in youth groups and was a trustee.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; son, Richard of Arlington, Minn.; two daughters, Angela Heathman and Patricia Greene both of Humboldt; stepson Jeff Brighi of Yanceyville, NC; stepdaughters, Pam Brighi and Kathy Mericle, both of Arvada, CO; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and sister Virginia Packard of Hawarden.
