Mrs. Kate Van Vliet died Monday, July 11 at 3:50 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Adrian Vander Stoep. She had been ill for a long time suffering several strokes. Funeral services will be July 14 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed church with Rev. Bronkema officiating. Burial will be in the local cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Van Vliet was born in Orange City September 15, 1883 and lived in this community all her life. On May 17, 1904 she was united in marriage to Okko Peters who died December 24, 1915. To this union were born six children, five of whom survive. They are two daughters, Mrs. Vander Stoep, and Mrs. John E. Winterberg of Flandreau, S.D., and three sons, Joe Peters of Burley, Idaho, Jake Peters of Sioux Falls and Okko Peters of Minneapolis. On September 14, 1927, she was married to Sam Van Vliet who passed away in 1939.

Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Margaret Ypma and Mrs. Charles E. Atkinson of St. Louis, Mo., and 18 grandchildren. Step children include Tony Van Vliet of Sioux City, Mrs. Bernard Scholten of Hull, and Mrs. Van Houten of Holland, Mich.
