From the Alton Democrat, August 13, 1926: Orange City News Events of the Week:

Mrs. S. Van Vliet died at her home on last Friday night [August 6]. She had been critically ill with cancer for some time and had suffered a great deal. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index shows Van Vliet, Alice, born 8 July 1871, died 7 August 1926, buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City. Obituaries of Orange City businessman Sam (Siebrand) Van Vliet (Alton Democrat, April 28, 1939; Sioux Center News, April 27, 1979) show him marrying Alice Feikema, who died in 1926.
