Art W. Evans, 76, of Sioux Center, died Wednesday, September 29, at his home. Memorial services were at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center on October 2, the Rev. Dennis Wilcox officiating. A private family graveside service was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center on Saturday before the memorial service.

Evans was born on November 15, 1916 in Morrowville, Kansas, the son of John H. & Mamie (Childers) Evans. On June 14, 1940, he married Lucille C. Bumgarner in Washington, Kansas. Throughout his life, he lived and worked in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Washington state and Hastings and Omaha in Nebraska. In 1982 he retired and moved to Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger and his wife Maureen Evans of Sioux Center; a sister, Lila Wilkinson; and a brother, John L. "Red" Evans, both of Geneva, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Ryan, Stacie and Matt; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Donald Bumgarner.

NOTE: The Sioux Center News article from October 2nd published the name of the deceased as William Arthur Evans. The tombstone marker reads this way: Wm. Evans & his wife C. Lucille Evans.
