From the Sioux Center News, Nov. 8, 1934:

Mrs. Hendrik VanderVliet Sr. passed away Wednesday morning [Nov. 7] after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Ref. Church, Rev. L. A. Brunsting officiating.

From the Sioux County Index (Hull), Nov. 9, 1934:

Gradus Vander Vliet has been in Sioux Center nearly all week, called there by the serious illness of his aged mother, who is eighty years old.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index shows Mrs. H. Vander Vliet, born 29 January 1851, died November 7, 1934, buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center. Newspaper announcements in late November show Gradus vander Vliet being appointed administrator of the estate of Teunisje Van Der Vliet, last of Sioux Center.)
