From the Alton Democrat of Jul 16, 1898 Calliope News.
An Old man by the name of Pedleton who came here some time ago and ocupied on of Mr Everhart's houses, died Monday night. He had been troubled with cancer of the tongue and a few days prior to his death had suffered great agony.
(No further info on this person was found. There was a Samuel Pendleton living in Cherokee County in 1895 born about 1821 but no confirmation on him. If anyone has info on this old fellow please contact our page coordinator to have the info added. )
