From the Sioux County Capital, Nov. 12, 1975

Relatives and friends attending the gravesite services for Clarence Van Velzen at Boyden, were: Gt. Aalberts, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bomgaars, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Grienke, Mrs. Willie Aalberts, Mrs. Ken Aalberts, Mrs. Elizabeth Raak, Mrs. Henry Muilenburg, Mrs. John J. Van Oort, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Top. Mr. Van Velzen was 47 years old. Survivors include his mother, one sister, Mrs. Cornie Siebersma of Mapleton, Iowa, and his three children.

Of potential relevance to his death: News notes in the Sioux County Index (Nov. 12, 1970) and the Sioux Center News (Dec. 17, 1970) show Clarence Van Velzen of Des Moines, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Van Velzen of Boyden, undergoing brain surgery at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines in November and returning home in December.

Obituaries of his father (Sioux Center News, March 2, 1961) and his brother Henry (Sioux County Index, Feb. 25, 1965) show him to be the son of Joe and Elizabeth Van Velzen of Boyden.
