Susan Van Velden
December 11, 1907--November 28, 1993

Susan Van Velzen, 85, of Sioux Center died Sunday, November 28, at the Community Nursing Wing in Sioux Center. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. John Witvliet officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Visitation will be at Vander Ploeg Chapel in Sioux Center on Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

She was born on December 11, 1907, in Orange City, the daughter of Tjeerd and Clara (Dykstra) Goslinga. She married Bill Van Velzen on February 19, 1930, in Sioux Center. He died June 12, 1979. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and Golden Hour Society.

Survivors are a son, Cornelius, and his wife, Carol, of Sioux Center; three daughters, Mrs. Marion (Ruth) Van Zandbergen of Orange City; Mrs. Ted (Eleanor) Vonk of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Mrs. Jerry (Mary Sue) Westling of Hawarden; 11 grandchildren, Mary Karssen, Ward and Reed Van Zandbergen, Dawn Groeneweg, Paige Hendrickson, Laura Lee Blake, Shelley Toten, Sue Ellen Doctor, Matthew and Anju Vonk and Susan Westling; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Goslinga of Carlos, Minnesota, and Henry Goslinga of Orange City; two sisters, Marie Jongema of Hospers and Tillie Bruins of Lakewood, California.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Tena, and two brothers, John and Ted.
