FARMER FOUND DEAD OF HEART ATTACK HERE
Funeral services for Cornelius E. Van Zanten, Jr., 50, lifetime resident of this area who died following a heart attack while working with cattle in the feedlot at his farm home Monday morning [Sept. 20], will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Porter Funeral Home and 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed church, with the Rev. Henry Poppen officiating. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery.
Mr. Van Zanten was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Van Zanten, and was born July 19, 1915 at Sioux Center. His first wife preceded him in death and he married Nellie Blankespoor, July 21, 1955, at Rock Valley.
Pallbearers will be Cornelius Van Zanten, Cornelius Teering, Cornelius E. Van Zanten, Cornelius Brandts, Cornelius Kollis and William Van Zanten.
Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Albertha, Helen, Clarene and Evelyn, all at home; two brothers, John of Alton, Iowa, and Tony of Rock Valley; six sisters, Mrs. Charles Kleinhuizen, Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Louis Toering, Pipestone, Minn., Mrs. Elice Kooi, Sioux Center, Mrs. Gerrit Brandts, Rock Valley, Mrs. Louis Kollis, Inwood, and Mrs. Gerrit Gravengoed, South Holland, Ill.
