Henry Heusinkveld
September 30, 1919 - October 8, 2011

Mr. Henry Heusinkveld, age 92, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Hull, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Freedom Point in Overland Park.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, October 11, at 10:30am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Henry John was born on September 30, 1919, in Hull, the son of Dick and Ella G. (De Boer) Heusinkveld. He was raised at Hull. He attended the Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, the Central College in Pella, and the Iowa State University in Ames. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On December 5, 1945, he married Marjorie Lynn Jackson in San Francisco, California. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Dallas, Texas, and Garden Grove and Anaheim, California. He was an engineer and technical writer with Collins Radio and Hughes Aircraft, and he was involved in the aeronautics industry with defense contracting. Mrs. Heusinkveld passed away on October 17, 1998, in Anaheim.

Mr. Heusinkveld later moved to Overland Park.

He was a member of the Garden Grove Community Church, the Sierra Club, and the Canyon Explorers Club. He enjoyed gardening and hiking.

Henry wrote a book about growing up on their farm near Hull called Cornerpost.

Survivors include his daughter, Laura Miller, of Overland Park; his son, Lynn Heusinkveld, of Princeville, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Christina Howel, of Shawnee, Kansas; Aaron Brown, of Olathe, Kansas; and Zackery Heusinkveld, of Portland, Oregon; a great-granddaughter, Linnea Brown; and three special second cousins, Candy, Mike, and Jeff Heusinkveld.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Frances, George, Harriet, Myron, and Willis Heusinkveld.
