Northwest Iowa Review May 18, 2002

Melvin - Craig C. Wallace, 43, Melvin, died Thursday, May 16.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., today (Saturday, May 18) at American Lutheran Church in Melvin, with Pastor Jane Johnston officiating. Burial will be at Baker Township Cemetery in Melvin, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home Service.

Craig Wallace, son of Glen & Shirley (Reimers) Wallace, was born Aug. 25, 1958 in Spencer. He was raised on a farm southeast of Ocheyedan. He graduated from Ocheyedan Community School in 1977. He started farming the family farm while in high school and continued farming following his graduation. He moved to a farm located northeast of Melvin in 1978. He married Nancy Timmons on Nov. 26, 1978, at American Lutheran Church in Melvin, where he later became a member. They were blessed with a son, Treven Glen, in 1981. They moved to their home in Melvin in 1984.

Family, friends and neighbors were very important to him. He especially enjoyed participating in Treven's activities and working with his father and son. Deer hunting with his friends and with Treven was always a highlight of the year after the fall harvest. He found pleasure in working with his neighbors and daily chats over coffee. His true passion in life, however, was farming; particularly feeding cattle. He was involved with the Osceola County Cattlemen's Association and the Melvin City Council, and was a board member of Osceola County Farmers Mutual Association. He will be sincerely remembered for his caring devotion to his family and loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Wallace of Melvin; a son, Treven Wallace of Melvin; his parents, Glen & Shirley Wallace of Ocheyedan; his sister, Jewel and Mark Garms of Round Lake, MN; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Timmons of Melvin; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law.
