F. B. Wallace a resident of Hawarden and the Alcester vicinity for more than 62 years, passed away at his home in the north part of town at 7 o'clock Wednesday morning. For the past year, Mr. Wallace had been in failing health. When his condition became critical, his son F. D. Wallace of Oakland, Calif. was notified and he arrived last Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the Barnard Funeral home Friday afternoon.
Frank Benjamin Wallace was born in De Kalb County, Ill. on July 8, 1867, where he lived until he was 16 years of age. He then came to Calliope and later farmed in the Alcester vicinity. He was united in marriage with Elnora McCormick of Alcester about 60 years ago. To this union were born two sons. One son passed away at an early age and the other son, Frank D. Wallace of Oakland, Calif., survives him.
After his marriage he returned to Hawarden and at one time operated a meat market. He was also in the ice business, in partnership with Frank Knight. His wife died in 1933.
Later he married Mrs. Emma Hanson of Waterloo. She passed away a year ago last December. Since them Mr. Wallace lived alone. Besides his son he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Vearrier of Hawarden and Mrs. William McCormick of Minneapolis; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
