Hawarden Independent January 4, 1940

William E. Everett, a resident of Sioux county for about 40 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Van Sickle Wednesday, after an illness of six weeks, death being caused by heart trouble.

Deceased was born in Kansas on February 11, 1860. He was united in marriage with Miss Nellie Wedliver at LeMars, Iowa. To this union ten children were born, Harry of Keidland, Wash.; Wilbur of Butte, Mont.; Ernie of Lennox, S.D.; Mrs. Lula Van Sickle, Hawarden; Mrs. Mamie Newman, Hawarden; Mrs. Doris Ward, Ridgefield, Wash.; Mrs. Bessie Werden, Sioux City; Mrs. Eva Nufher and Lela Chilhan of Butte, Mont. One daughter, Ruth, passed away in 1933.

Mr. Everett was a barber by trade and operated shops here and at Ireton for a number of years. Of late years he has been a camp on the Big Sioux river near Westfield, where he has fished, trapped and raised a large market garden.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home, with Rev. T. H. Harding in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill Cemetery.
