Ward Estes, 69, of Enning, SD, an early day resident of Hawarden, died Thursday, March 19, following a heart attack.

He was born on the Estes farm northwest of Hawarden on February 8, 1884. He married Miss Maud Hedden of Hawarden in December of 1908. The following year the young couple homesteaded near Enning, Meade County, SD, and since then lived there.

Funeral services were held at the Anderson-Stingley Funeral Home with Rev. E. M. Bremer of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Bear Butte Cemetery.

Survivors are the widow; a son, Warren of Enning, SD; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hayes of Underwood, SD; a sister, Mrs. Fairie Jackson of Sun Valley, Calif; a brother, Ralph of Sturgis, SD and six grandchildren.
