DEATH OF LONG TIME RESIDENT
MRS. SOFIE LINDBLOM PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING
Was 74 Years Old and Came to Hawarden Nearly 48 Years Ago.--Survived by Two Sons

Mrs. Sofie Lindblom, a long time resident of this community, passed away at 8:30 Wednesday evening [Aug. 14] at the home of her brother-in-law, E. J. Ericson in this city, following a lingering illness from heart trouble and complications. Although she had been in failing health for more than three years and had been bedfast since early last spring her death was rather unexpected. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

Sofie Bostrom was born in Stockholm, Sweden, May 21, 1861, and so had attained the age of 74 years, 2 months and 23 days. She grew to young womanhood in her native land and was married in Stockholm to C. V. Carlson. They immigrated to America Aug. 5, 1887, coming to Big Springs, and for two or three months they made their home with Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eriscon. They then came to Hawarden to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago but she continued to make her home in this city for a number of years. In 1908 she was united in marriage with Carl Lindblom of Alcester and she made her home there until 1919 when Mr. Lindblom passed away. Since that time she made her home with her sister, Mrs. E. J. Ericson and family, almost continually. She was an invalid for three years and her needs were looked after by her sister until she [the sister] was taken ill last spring and passed away June 7th this year.

She is survived by two sons, Herman Carlson of Fresno, Calif., and C. T. Carlson of Sioux City. Two children, a daughter and a son, preceded her in death. She also leaves her brother-in-law, E. J. Ericson, and six nieces and two nephews in this family.

Mrs. Lindblom was reared in the Lutheran church in Sweden but when she made her home in this city she united with the Baptist church and when she was able she attended regularly. At various times in her life she looked after the needs of the ailing and in the sick room she went cheerfully about her work. She suffered much in her three years of illness and death came as a sweet relief to her suffering.
