Eslick, Mrs. Wm. (Ida) - 1860-1937

Hawarden Independent, April 29, 1937

Mrs. Ida Edith Eslick of Elk Point, a pioneer of Union County, died at her home Saturday, April 17th. Five years ago she suffered a stroke and since then had been in failing health but was only bedfast six weeks preceding her death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Elk Point at 2 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Frank L. Whitney officiating. Interment was made in the Elk Point cemetery. Mr. & Mrs. Amos Green and Mrs. S. R. Cooper of Hawarden attended the services. Mrs. Eslick was an aunt of Mr. Green.

Ida Edith Green was born in Platteville, Wis., Oct. 9, 1860, and so was past 76 years of age at the time of her death. When three years old she came to Union County, Dakota territory. She was united in marriage with Wm. Eslick, Feb. 6, 1878 and to this union were born eight children, one of whom preceded her in death. The surviving children are Arthur U. of Greenville, SC.; Pearl (Jack) of San Francisco, Calif; Victor I. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Alfred W., Raphael R., and William G. of Elk Point; Mrs. Ray Scott of San Mateo, Calif. There are also 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Rafe Green of Elk Point, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Skaiff of St. Paul. Four brothers, James, William, Shelton and Washington Green, and one sister, Mrs. Lyda Pace, preceded her in death as did her husband.
