Funeral services were held Thursday, March 13, at the American Reformed Church for John Vanden Berg, Sr., Rev. L. Nattress officiated.

Mr. Vanden Berge passed away Sunday afternoon, March 9, at the Rock Rapids hospital. He had reached the age of 96 years, nine months and 20 days.

He was born at Pella on May 17, 1861. As a boy of eight years old he came with his parents to Alton where the family homesteaded.

He was united in marriage on April 25, 1891, to Christina Christensen. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1945.

Mr. Vanden Berge was a resident of Sioux County until the death of his wife, after which he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Oren Van Iperen of George.

He is survived by one son, John Vanden Berge, Jr. of Redwood Falls, MN; and five daughters: Mrs. William Druyvesteyn of Hospers; Mrs. Marie Eggink of Sioux City; Mrs. Matt Schafer of Sioux City; Mrs. Harry Wallinga of Hull, and Mrs. Oren Van Iperen of George. There are 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
