Cecil A. Ericson, 77, of Akron died unexpectedly Thursday, May 23, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron with the Rev. Donald Greenough officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, with military rites by Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron. The Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ericson was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Hawarden, the son of Albin and Anna (Ericson) Ericson. He spent 35 months overseas during World War II, serving with the United States Army in Africa and Europe. He married Phyllis Ross on Nov. 9, 1962, in Dakota City. Mr. Ericson moved from Chicago, Ill., in 1960 and began working for Akron Creamery. He then worked as a route salesman for Wells Blue Bunny, retiring in 1980 in Akron.

Mr. Ericson was a member of Hoschler Post 186, American Legion of Akron.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, George and Terry of Harlingen, Texas, and Gary and Cetta of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Cecelia and Mike McCue of Hometown, Ill.; a brother and his wife, Derwood and Ramona Ericson of Hawarden; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell; and a sister, Myrtle Newman.

Pallbearers will be Garry Jacobson, Barton Ericson, William and Donald McCue, Daryl Port, Jack Correia and Jay Dirks.
