ALBIN ERICSON DIES SUDDENLY
PASSED AWAY AT HOME WEST OF TOWN SATURDAY MORNING
Was Well Known Union County Farmer and is Survived by Widow and Four Children

The community was shocked and saddened Saturday when it was learned that Albin Ericson had passed away suddenly at 5:15 that morning at his home several miles southwest of Hawarden. He had been in his usual good health Friday and was assisting with wood sawing at the farm of his brother-in-law, A. J. Anderton, and as he was in the act of lifting a log he was seized with a severe pain in his back. This occurred about 11 o'clock Friday morning. He lay down for a short time and then as the pain eased up somewhat he got into his car and drove home. About seven o'clock that evening a physician was called but his ailment at that time was not thought to be of a serious nature. However, his wife remained up with him until about twelve o'clock when they retired but he was up again between three and four. At five o'clock he called his wife and was gasping for breath. She raised him up and he fell back and passed away in her arms a few minutes later. The direct cause of his death is not known but it is thought to have been caused by an embolism. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Big Springs Baptist church with Rev. B. L. Carlton, the pastor, in charge. Interment was made in the cemetery adjacent to the church.

Albin G. Ericson was born in Union county May 10, 1884, and passed away March 6, 1926, and so was 41 years, 9 months and 26 days old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage with Miss Anna Ericson October 31, 1910. They began their life together on a farm one-half mile east of Big Springs but in 1915 he purchased his father's farm in [illegible] township, about six miles southwest of Hawarden, and since that time he has lived there continuously.

Besides his wife he leaves four children, Myrtle, aged 14; Russell, aged 12; Cecil, aged 7; and little Derwood, aged 1-1/2 years, who will greatly miss the helping hand of a husband and father. He is also survived by his aged father, Oscar J. Ericson, five sisters, Mrs. Henry Allen of Hawarden; Mrs. A. J. Anderton, Mrs. C. F. Anderton and Mrs. Ed Lundberg of Big Springs; and Mrs. Albert Head of Jefferson, Iowa; and two brothers, Charles of Alcester and Arthur of Omaha, Neb., all of whom were present at the funeral. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his departure.

Albin Ericson was a man well liked by everyone who knew him. He was ambitious and energetic, always busy and anxious to make a success of his work. He was a faithful husband and father and splendid neighbor and sympathetic friend. The Sunday preceding his death he joined the Brotherhood Sunday school class of the Big Springs Baptist church, seemed much interested, and planned to attend as much as possible but no other opportunity to do so came. The high esteem in which he was held by those who knew him was shown by the large number of neighbors and friends who met at the church Tuesday to pay their last sad respects to him. Death at any time seems sad, but when a man is taken away in the prime of life and from a family who need him it seems unusually so and is beyond human wisdom. The many friends of the family sincerely sympathize with them in their hour of sorrow.
