Walter F. Erickson, 70, of Alcester died Monday, April 16, 1984, while working at Union County State Park, south of Beresford. Services were Thursday, April 19, in Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester. The Rev. Ken Lewis officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Wass Funeral Home at Alcester.

Mr. Erickson was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Union County. He married Margaret Smith Jan. 11, 1946, at Kansas City, MO. They farmed in the Big Springs area until 1969 when he started working for the Union County State Park. Mr. Erickson was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Brent of Alton; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Pamela) Van Hove of Edgerton, MN; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Nylund of Hawarden and Mrs. Margaret Binnebose of Sioux City; one brother, Morris of Excelsior, MN and four grandchildren.
