OSCAR ERICKSON

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church in Canton January 2 for Oscar Erickson, 86, of Canton, retired farmer and father of Mrs. Cedric Van Steenwyk of Sioux Center and Okoboji, who died December 30 of a heart attack. Services were conducted by the Rev. Wayne Roger and burial was in Richland cemetery at Inwood.

Mr. Erickson was born at Inwood December 19, 1888, the son of Ole and Maria Erickson. He married Ruth Miller at Rock Rapids December 21, 1912. The couple farmed near Inwood until retiring and moving to Canton February 22, 1945. They made their home in Sioux Center for a few months just prior to moving to Canton.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Joy) Hegge of Centerville, S.D., and Mrs. Cedric (Eleanor) Van Steenwyk of Okoboji and Sioux Center; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Erickson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
