Ed Walinga, 65, of Boyden died Friday, February 27 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, with the Rev. Stephen Tamminga officiating. Burial will be in the Boyden Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the American Legion of Boyden.

Walinga was born February 17, 1922, in Boyden. He married Iola Horn, November 27, 1953, in Boyden. He owned and operated Walinga Sand and Gravel Company for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II.

Walinga was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Disabled American Veterans of Doon and American Legion of Boyden.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beth of Des Moines and Becky at home; three sons, Bruce and Bradley, both of Chino, CA, and Bevin at home; a sister, Flo Cooper of Reading, MN; two brothers, Elmer of Sheldon and Kenneth of Windom, MN and four grandchildren.
