ELMER ERICSON

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church at Hawarden at 2 p.m. September 13 for Elmer Ericson, 78, retired city cerk of Hawarden, who died September 11 at an Alcester, S.D., nursing home after a brief illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. Arthur DeNeui and burial was in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden.

Mr. Ericson was born in Union County, South Dakota, November 25, 1896. He moved to Hawarden with his parents in 1899. He served in the Army during World War I. He married Martha Sydness June 14, 1927, at Story City.

Mr. Ericson had served for 28 years as city clerk of Hawarden prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, John E. of Wilmington, Del., and James D. of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; five sisters, Hulda, Delia and Anna, all of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Signa Paramore of Quincy, Ill., and Mrs. Margaret Broadley of Washington, D.C.
