Wm. Elmitt of Huron, S.D., who spent most of his life in Hawarden, died suddenly last Thursday [Sept. 14], following a heart attack which he suffered while at work. He passed away in an ambulance as he was being removed to a hospital.

Funeral services were held at Huron Tuesday evening and his remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday. Services were held at the Barnard Funeral home at 2:30 that afternoon, with Rev. W. V. Bell in charge. Interment was in Grace Hill cemetery.

William Elmitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elmitt, was born in Hawarden on August 28, 1886, so was some past 58 years of age at the time of his death. About seven years ago, when the number of workmen were reduced in the local railroad, Mr. Elmitt went to Huron where he was employed as a machinist in the railroad years. Mr. Blair and Mrs. Madsen went to Huron to attend the services and, together with Mrs. Elmitt, accompanied the remains to Hawarden. Others from out of town who attended the funeral here were George Elmitt and son of Sioux Rapids, Art Elmitt of Chadron, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Halford Dudley and Mrs. Olaf Johnson of Rock Falls, Ill., Pfc. and Mrs. William Elmitt of Brigham City, Utah, George Dudley of Long Beach, Calif., and Steffen Madsen of Pocahontas.
