Catherine Hengeveid, 71, Sheldon, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000 at her rural residence. Services were Monday, Nov 20,2000 at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Rev John Vermeer officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon,
Catherine Hengeveld, daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Smit) Westerman, was born Feb 14, 1929, in Hospers, as one of the Wester man triplets She moved with her parents as a child to Prairie View, KS, where she received her elementary education She moved back to Sheldon with her parents in 1944, and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull in 1947. She also graduated from Westmar College in LeMars. She taught for two years at Sanborn Christian School. She married William Hengeveld on June 23, 1949, in Sheldon, where they made their home. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon She enjoyed knitting, making dolls and was considered an excellent cook. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Sheldon, four children, Katha and Ron Petroelje of Holland, Ml, Ken and Kim Hengeveld of Sheldon, Laurel and Scott Van den Bosch of Sioux Falls, SD, and Joel and Julie Hengeveld of Sheldon, 13 grandchildren, a sister, Jayne and Loren Bittner of Sioux Falls, SD, and her triplet sister, Wilma and Jake Brouwer of Downey, CA; and a brother, Harvey and Marjean Westerman of Hartley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a triplet sister, Henrietta Vander Ploeg.
