JOHN TEUNE was born on September 2, 1912 at Middleburg, Iowa the son of Peter and Berendje (Kasper) Teune. He grew up in the Steen area and attended schools there. On November 14, 1935 he was united in marriage to Alice Bosch at the home of her parents near Rock Rapids. After their marriage they lived in various Lyon County locations before moving to Steen, Minnesota in 1958. Together they farmed in the Steen area until retiring into Steen in 1980. After Alice died on November 19, 1989 John continued to make his home at Steen. Last Saturday John died at the Sioux Valley Hospital In Sioux Falls following a brief illness. At the time of his death he was seventy—seven.
Surviving are seven children, Gertrude, Mrs. Harvey Rozeboom of Hills, MN; Betty, Mrs. Gilbert Teunissen of Alvord, IA; Peter T. Teune of Steen, MN; Teunis J. Teune of Chino, CA; Elsie, Mrs. Eibert Boeve of Springfield, MO; Johnnie 0. Teune of Pine River, MN and Brenda, Mrs. Merle Martens of Beaver Creek, MN. Also surviving are twenty—six grandchildren, nineteen great—grandchildren along with five sisters, Lucy Mrs. John DeKriek of Lynden, WA; Alice, Mrs. Joe Bosch of Phoenix, AZ; Nell, Mrs. Ed Bosch of Bellflower, CA; Jennie, Mrs. John Hoff of Hills, MN; and Hattie, Mrs. Cornelius Hoff of Rock Rapids, IA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, two sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
Blessed be his memory.
Following the graveside services there will be a lunch served in the fellowship hall for all relatives and friends.
