Rites Here Tuesday For Edward Budden, Prominent Farmer

Funeral services were held in the St. Joseph's church [Granville] Tuesday morning at 9:30 for Ed Budden who passed on at his home Saturday evening [May 10], after suffering a stroke at his home 9 days ago.

Edward Budden was born Oct. 13, 1873 near Brown station, Iowa. After his marriage to Miss Anna Millenkamp in Petersburg, Iowa, they came to Granville, to make their home on a farm 1 1/2 miles southwest of here, where they have since resided.

To this union were born 12 children of whom ten survive their father: Edwin of Ashton, Malinda, Mrs. John Poeckes of Remsen, (Colette) Mrs. Al Pottebaum of Alton, Reynold of Granville, Albert of Chicago, Norbert and Roman of Granville, Armella and Emil at home, (Irma) Mrs. Art Wersinger of Remsen.

Mr. Budden was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Church choir for more than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 children. Surviving are his widow and 10 children, 14 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Zeno of Sioux City, Wm. and Nick of Petersburg, Iowa and 1 sister.

Pallbearers were his six sons, Edwin, Reynold, Albert, Norbert, Emil, and Roman. St. Mary's Choir chanted the requiem mass. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Schumacher, M. H. Perlot, J. P. Reeff, John Reis, Nick Schumacher of Alton, and Nick Schwebach, all members of the Granville court of the Luxemburger Brotherhood of which the deceased was also a member.

Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, under the direction of Wiltgens funeral home of LeMars.
