Mrs. Burnight of Sioux City Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Burnight, 69, of Sioux City, mother of Ted Burnight, who died Friday morning [Nov. 22] from a heart ailment, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Sioux City at 11 o'clock Monday. Very Rev. Msgr. Lilly officiated at the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Catherine's cemetery at Akron.

Mrs. Burnight was born May 25, 1894 at Alcester, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gibbons. She was baptized in St. Mary's Catholic church in Hawarden.

On October 15, 1912 she married Charles Burnight at Akron where the couple resided many years. After their daughter's husband died about 20 years ago, they went to Sioux City to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Madelaine Vanderham.

Survivors include the widower; one daughter, Mrs. Vanderham; a son, Ted Burnight of Hawarden; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Among those attending the funeral were Larry Burnight, who is a seminarian at Colfax, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mullin of Middle, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Burnight and Mrs. Nellie Burnight. Unable to attend was Charles Burnight of Flint, Mich.
