DEATH CLAIMS 6-YEAR-OLD BOY
James Burnight, Chatsworth Boy, Died Here Friday
Was Son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Burnight and a First Grade Pupil in the Chatsworth School

James Burnight, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Burnight of Chatsworth, passed away at the Hawarden hospital about 5 o'clock last Friday afternoon [March 27], following an operation. James submitted to an operation March 16th but did not make a satisfactory recovery and so last Thursday a second operation was performed but the boy was unable to overcome the second ordeal and he died about 24 hours later.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city at 9 o'clock Monday morning with Rev. Fr. J. M. Neppel in charge. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. Six of his playmates, Ronald McFarlin, Junior Dalgliesh, Gordon Adams, Cyril Gaul, Gusta Schroeder and Freddie Ludwigs, were pall bearers.

James Russell Burnight, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Burnight, was born Nov. 18, 1929, on a farm southeast of Hawarden, but most of his short life had been spent in Chatsworth. He started school last fall and continued until his recent illness. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Donald, aged 9 years, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jepsen. James was a sweet and lovable child and was a favorite among his playmates and all with whom he came in contact, all of whom will miss his beaming face and radiant smile. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family in the loss of their beloved son and brother.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. Amundson, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Ericson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Rasmussen and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ludwig of Alcester; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lamoreaux, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gibbons, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Burnight and John McInnis of Akron, and Mrs. Nap. Lamoreaux of Sioux City.
