George Vande Kamp was the son of Gerrit and Margje (Vande Kamp) Vande Kamp, born June 16, 1903 in Oldebroek, Netherlands. In 1910 he came to America with his family.
On Aug. 6, 1926 he married Celie Vanden Berg at Rock Valley. They farmed in Sioux County, including NE of Ireton from 1945 to 1963. They then moved to Orange City where they were custodians of Unity Christian from 1966-1972. In 1986 they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. Mrs. Vande Kamp passed away on June 19, 1989 at Orange City.
In Dec. 1991, George became a resident of the Sioux Center Nursing Home where he passed away.
He was a member of the First CRC in Orange City.
Survivors include his 11 children: Gerrit and Hilbert of Rock Valley, Winnifred (Alfred) De Jong of Ireton; Marvin and Geraldine (John Van Holland) and Geneva (Leonard) Vanden Bosch of Rock Valley, Celia (Marvin)Ten Napel of Ireton; Vernon of Orange City, Norma (Nelson) Nikkel of Sully, sons in law and daughter in laws, 44 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and a brother, Albert of Sioux Center.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and 3 sisters.
Memorial Services at First CRC in Orange City on Tuesday, July 20, 1993 1:30 PM
Burial at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Rev. Ralph Pontier officiated.
