Mr. Brian Vander Schaaf, 23, died Friday Morning following an automobile accident. He was born Sept. 21, 1959 at Ireton, IA. He married Gail Langstraat on Aug. 22, 1981 at Newkirk.
Mr. Vander Schaaf was employed as a mechanic at Easton Shop in Orange City. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice and also a member of the National Rifle Assocaiation.
Survivors include his wife, Gail, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vande Schaaf at rural Orange City. a sister, Mrs. Carla (Harold) Dykstra of Sioux Center. A brother, Howard, of Orange City, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John R Vander Schaaf of Orange City, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Vugteveen of Rock Valley,IA and his mother and father in law, Mr. and Mrs. Rod Langstraat of rural Newkirk.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Case Vugteveen.

Services were held Monday, May 16 at 10 a.m., in the First Reformed Church, Maurice. Rev. Edward Fikse officiated. Burial was in Newkirk Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City. Death date was May 13, 1983.
