Mrs. Helenne Sims, age 91, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007, at her residence.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, September 4, at 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Jay Anderson will officiate.
Helenne Charlene was born on March 28, 1916, in Barton, Ohio, the daughter of Adam and Suzanne Feachen. She was raised in Ohio, where she graduated from high school.
She also lived in California, in San Francisco, Hollywood, and Long Beach. Since 2000, she has made her home in Orange City.
In earlier years, she married Gene Reynolds. Later, she married Clyde McLain Sims. He passed away on November 13, 1975, in Long Beach.
As a young lady, she was a long distance telephone operator. More recently, she served as a housekeeper, until retirement.
Survivors include her son, Courtney Sims, of Stanton, California; a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Tom Dykstra, of Orange City; four grandchildren, Andrea Brokaw, of Mesa, Arizona; Matthew Dykstra, of Platte, South Dakota; Bryan Dykstra, of Omaha, Nebraska; and Rachael Dykstra, of Orange City; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred "Mimi" Marcissin, of Vacaville, California; two brothers, Frank Feachen, of Andalusia, Alabama; and Adam "Ebby" Feachen, of Belmont, California; and her faithful companion, "Lucky", who remained by her side.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Feachen; and four sisters, Marguerite Gonot, Anne Gromen, Sue Dabelko, and Mary "PeeWee" Krone.
