Wessel Eenkhoorn Sr. passed away at his home Friday June 1, 1945 after a lingering illness of many weeks. He had reached the age of 76 years.

Left to mourn his departure are his seven children namely, Mrs. Jacob Van Hattem of Rock Valley, Mrs. Adolph Nieuwenhuis of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Henry Wynja of Sioux Center, Mes. Charlie De Jongh of Luveren Minn., Ben Eenkhoorn of Sioux Center, Mrs. Peter Proper of Artesia, Calif., and Wessel Eenkhoorn Jr. of Bellflower, Calif. 38 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Five of the grandchildren are in the services

He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away on Jan. 11, 1945 at the age of 76 years and also two children, Mrs. Bertha Ter Haar who died in 1936 and Mr. Art Eenkhoorn who died in 1941.

Mr. Eenlhoorn was born on June 12, 1869, at Genemuiden, Netherlands. On Oct. 3, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Christina Bleyenburg who preceded him in death. They lived in the Sioux community for 31 years, the last three of which were spent in town.

Fueneral; service were held on Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 1945 at one o'clock at the home and at the Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Oliver Breen officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Gerrit Bosch of Maurice. Burial took plsce at the local cemetery.
