Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed church here at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11, for Martin Dykshoorn, retired farmer and life-long resident of Sioux Center community, who died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home at 306 First Avenue Southeast here Sunday evening shortly after retiring. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Boerigter and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral home. Martin was a veteran of World War I and all local veterans who attend the funeral services are requested to meet in the Narthex of the church and sit together.

Mr. Dykshoorn had gone to Sioux City to attend a baptismal service for his great grandchild and had company at his home on Sunday evening, but complained of being tired and went to bed early. A short time later he experienced chills but before a doctor could be summoned to the home he was gone.

Mr. Dykshoorn was born in Sioux Center January 19, 1896. He was married to Jennie Vande Berg February 21, 1923, in Sioux Center, and farmed near Sioux Center prior to retiring and moving into town.

Survivors include his widow; two daughter, Mrs. John Sjaarda of rural Ireton and Mrs. Gordon Van Roekel of Rural Maurice; eight brothers, and sisters, Mrs. John Sneller, Mrs. Wm. Brantsen, Mrs. Dave Roelofs and Edward Dykshoorn of Sioux Center. Mrs. Clay Cox of Omaha, Mrs. Henry Franken of Pella, Marion Dykshoorn of Sheldon and William Dykshoorn of Hawarden; eight grandchildren and one great grandchildren.
